Do you like mountains? We have all you need…
The Majella mountains, the Grand Sasso, Mount Amaro, La Bella Addormentata, Roccascalegna. The list goes on and on, you name it and when it comes to mountains Abruzzo has it. We have dedicated an article to each of the Abruzzo mountain phenomena, here we are focusing on a specific city. Among the most scenic areas of Abruzzo is the city Lanciano where, standing in strategic spots, you can see the highest peaks of Abruzzo’s Majella to the west and to east you can see the Adriatic Sea. Indeed some of the best panorama in Abruzzo comes from Lanciano.
If we blind folded you and parachuted you from a helicopter into Lanciano you would think you were in Alaska or maybe by one of the big lakes in Colorado, it is that majestic and serene. Forget that Lanciano has pre Roman ruins or that the area is well known for a chocolate crème stuffed biscotto, the snow-capped mountains are a sight to behold.
